The Episcopal Recovery Ministries Committee of the Diocese of Missouri exists to serve the clergy -- to help them identify, talk to, and assist parishioners and their loved ones who are suffering from addictions into the work of recovery.  Recognizing that substance abuse is a major issue in American society, we are here to help clergy and laity name the problem and work toward the solution of recovery.


Alcohol abuse is currently the third leading health problem in the United States, affecting more than 20 million Americans, roughly 10% of the population.  In the U.S. one person is killed every half hour due to drunk driving.  Chances are, at least 1 in every 10 members of congregations abuses or is addicted to alcohol.  The damage from alcohol and other addictions is inflicted on millions more, as families are fractured and torn apart by the addict's behavior.


The members of the Episcopal Recovery Ministries Committee have had personal experience with addiction and recovery.  There is help and there is hope.
